Intimacy with God

Jeremiah 24:7 “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.”

People have many beliefs about God, some good, some not so good. But whatever you believe about Him, I hope you understand that He desires an intimate relationship with you. He seeks it. If you need proof, start at the beginning. Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, knew God and talked to Him. And even after their fall, God came looking for them. Of course, we know they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. We see in Gen 3:8-9 that God called out to them, “Where are you?” This story shows us that even in our sin God still wants us and comes looking for us. The rest of the Bible is the story of God calling us back to Himself.

Intimacy with God is why you were created. He created us for intimate fellowship, and in doing so, He established the goal of our existence – that is, to know Him, love Him, and live our lives in an intimate relationship with Him. Knowing what it would take, He told Jeremiah, “I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.” This is all made possible because of the sacrifice of His Son. Now, He waits for our response and longs for us to return with much affection and sincerity.
