Value Personal Worth Over Net Worth

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession; that you may declare the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10
As an immature new Christian, I wanted to make sure other Christians saw me doing Christian things. My identity was more in the approval of Christians than from my acceptance in Christ. Realize if there is no absolute standard for morality then it is up to each individual to subjectively determine what is right and what is wrong. As a result, no one can truly be wrong. If there is no absolute standard then the liar cannot be wrong, and neither can the thief, the murderer, the rapist, nor the pedophile. If there is no absolute standard, then all we have is subjective chaos, and we live in an age similar to the period of the judges in the OT where “everyone did what was right in their own eyes” (Jdg. 17:6; 21:25 – NKJV).
